About Riverwood Athletic Association

The success of the Riverwood Athletic Program depends on generous donors and community support.

The Riverwood Athletic Association’s (RAA) primary purpose is to raise money for every Raider sports team and for athletic facilities. The RAA functions as a single booster organization to ensure consistency and continuity to all sports programs.

Riverwood is proud of its tradition of athletic excellence. More than 50% of the student body participates in one of the 23 athletic teams. Over the years, the Raiders have captured many state championships and state runner-up titles. Most recently, the Raiders won the Region 6-AAAAA Directors Cup in both 2016-17 and 2017-18 (learn more). For the second time in four years, the Raiders also won the coveted 2017-18 Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award, an impressive recognition which honors schools that demonstrate impeccable sportsmanship.

The Athletics Department depends on the RAA to support the growth of all sports teams, changes and additions to facilities, and maintenance of all sports and training equipment. In 2018-19, the RAA will continue fundraising for the new $200,000 digital scoreboard being installed in Hoskyn Stadium during the Summer of 2018. RAA Memberships will also fund facility improvements, training room equipment, and many other essentials. Membership is open to everyone, including parents, guardians, alumni, faculty, and friends of Riverwood. In addition to membership donations from every sports family, the RAA solicits family and corporate sponsorships to assist with larger captial expenditures. The RAA is a 501(c)3 corporation; all donations are tax-deductible.
The RAA is comprised of 13 voting members with diverse backgrounds (Board of Directors), the Athletic Director, two coaches, and a committee of team parent representatives. Each team has a parent on the Team Parent Rep Committee to ensure that every team's needs are being addressed. The Board of Directors governs the business and financial affairs of the organization. For questions regarding specifics of individual team fundraising, please contact the team's parent representative (view RAA Board and Committee directory).
