Raider Baseball Opens Season with 10-0 Victory

The Raiders 2013 Baseball Season opened with a 10–0 victory over visiting Chamblee on a chilly night at Raider Park. Sophomore David Peljovich got the opening day start and did not disappoint, throwing an impressive five scoreless innings for the complete game win. Peljovich was sharp from the beginning; he struck out eight and had the Bulldogs baffled throughout the game with his change of speed and pin-point accuracy. While Peljovich was the story on defense, newcomer, senior transfer Randolph Gassaway, along with three-year starter, senior Kyle Carruthers did the damage on offense. Gassaway ignited the offense in the bottom of the first with a laser down the left field line – scoring two; Carruthers then followed with a double on a bomb to deep left, driving in Gassaway. Carruthers' double was only the beginning - on his next at bat in the third, Carruthers singled and scored. And, in the fifth, after Gassaway again doubled, driving in a run, Carruthers singled to right center, driving in Gassaway.
