Big Road Win for Varsity Boys Basketball

Big Road Win for Varsity Boys Basketball

The Varsity Boys Basketball team extended their winning streak to four games with a 68-51 road victory against Region 6-AAAAA opponent Banneker on Saturday afternoon, January 12, 2019. The road win moves the Raiders to 7-2 in the Region and marks a five-game Region win streak, too.

Seeking to keep their hopes alive for the top spot in the Region, the Raiders came out hot and held an early 17-8 lead after the first quarter. Despite numerous runs from the Trojans, multiple players responded for the Raiders. Indeed, five different Raiders scored in double figures. Junior Jermyle Jones had huge second quarter. Jones was successful from anywhere on the court -- he went 5-5 while putting up ten points. Senior Davis Herndon started his scoring run in the third quarter and quickly put nine points on the board. In the fourth period, Jaylen Edwards stepped up with a critical 4-for-5 performance at the free throw stripe and contributed six points. For the game, Nathan Henderson led all scorers with 15 points; Jared Nalls recorded his best offensive output with 13 points; and Davis Herndon added 12.

In early December, Lithia Springs defeated the Raiders by three points; the Lions are one of only two Region opponents to beat the Raiders this year. Lithia Springs comes to Sandy Springs on Saturday, January 19 for the season rematch. Game time is 5pm
