The Boys Golf team played two tournaments during 2015 Spring Break. The second event was the two day 36-hole Larry Gaither Invitational in Columbus on Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11, 2015. The tournament, hosted by Hardaway High School at the Bull Creek Golf Course, had 23 teams from across the state.
The Raiders finished 19th out of the field of 23 with daily scores of 337 and 338. These scores are strong enough to secure a spot in the sectional tournament, if the Raiders can finish as one of the top four teams in the region. If they do not finish in the top four of Region 7-AAAAA, the Gaither Invitational scores could possibly qualify the Raiders for a wild card entry.
The four man roster was KJ Smith, Zeb Sumlin, William White, and Andrew Roberts. Smith again led the Raiders; he shot 74-73 (147) over the two days for a 3 over par. Sumlin and White both posted 165 and Roberts carded a 198.
Congratulations to Senior KJ Smith -- he finished fourth in the field of 120 and was named to the All-Tournament team. Read the April 11, 2015 article by David Mitchell in the Columbus Ledger Enquirer newspaper
