Congratulations to KJ Smith, Raider Class of 2015, for making the University of Pennsylvania 2015-16 varsity golf team as a walk-on. Smith is a freshman in the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Encouraged by a successful summer season and subsequent conversations with the Quaker coaching staff, he participated in a competitive two week tryout period and earned a spot on the varsity roster.
During the summer between high school and college, Smith won four of the eight tournaments he entered. He won the Atlanta Junior Open, the Stone Mountain Junior Classic, and both the Bobby Jones and the North Fulton Club Championships.
As a member of the Raider golf team, Smith earned a varsity letter all four years and served as captain both his junior and senior years. An International Baccalaureate Diploma recipient, he was also a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish National Honor Society, the National Beta Club, and the Model UN. He was treasurer of the National Business Honor Society and was a Future Business Leaders of America state winner. Additionally, Smith served as a Riverwood Ambassador.
