Raiders Co-host Ryder Cup Invitational

Raiders Co-host Ryder Cup Invitational

The Boys Golf team co-hosted 12 schools at the 2017 Riverwood-Weber Invitational Saturday, March 4 at the Woodmont Country Club in Canton.

The Raiders finished 8th with a score of 372; Walton High School won the Invitational with a score of 323.

Each of the Raider two-man teams played well together and complemented each other's games nicely.

Jacob Smith and Casey Scheele, both playing in their first high school event, teamed to shoot 132. Smith had an outstanding up-and-down out of a greenside trap to save par and made an important par for the team on the 9th hole. Scheele played consistent golf all day, making a birdie on the tricky Par 3 11th hole, where others hit shot after shot ending up short and in the water. By the end of the day, Scheele earned the nickname, "Fairway." Hopefully, his consistency will stick as the season continues.

Michael Kraft and Garrett Stack finished at 126. Kraft had the most highlights with two birdies in the round, rolling in putts on the Par 5 9th and the Par 3 15th. Kraft and Stack complemented each other as Stack played well in the middle of the round and Kraft, as he often does, finished with a strong back 9.

Connor Lennon and Phillip Clendenin led all Raider teams with a 113. Clendenin got the team off to a good start with a birdie early in the round. Their consistent play, with just a few exceptions, had them in contention for top 2-man team honors until the final holes.

The JV Boys Golf team jumps into action this week with two matches against North Springs:  Monday, March 6 at River Pines and Thursday, March 9 at Steele Canyon. The Varsity retuns to the links Monday, March 13 at the Big Red Shootout in Gainesville   view schedule
