New School Record for Boys Medley Relay

New School Record for Boys Medley Relay

After a strange week of several missed school days and practices due to bad weather and poor road conditions, the Raider Swim and Dive team finally returned to the pool and emerged with new school and personal records. The Metro Meet, hosted by Westminster on Friday, January 19 and Saturday, January 20, brought together 27 area schools and featured some of the best competition of the year.

Congratulations to the Boys Medley Relay team for setting a new school record:  Donovan Johnson, Steven Jackson, Andrew Johnson, and TJ Shannon's 1:41.69 broke the school record set in 2016.

Over the course of the meet, the Raiders established 31 new personal records, improved their state qualifying times in seven events, and advanced to the finals in 16 events. The Boys team finished 6th and, as a combined team, the Raiders finished 11th overall. In Diving, Brandon Rice was 10th in the Boys division, while Elle Mezzio was 16th in the Girls.

The final competition of the year begins Thursday, February 1 at the Georgia Tech Natatorium. The 2018 State Championships are Thursday, February 1 through Saturday, February 3. At the conclusion of the Metro Meet, 22 members of the Raider Swim and Dive team have qualified for State.
