Thrilling Start for Varsity Girls Basketball in January

The Varsity Girls Basketball team jumped right back into region competition following winter break with a tough road game at Decatur. Going into the Tuesday, January 8 contest, the Lady Bulldogs held a 4-3 Region 6-AAAA record, while the Lady Raiders were 5-1. In thrilling fashion, the Lady Raiders won 52-51 in overtime to stretch their region winning streak to four in a row.

Following a home victory over Carver on Friday, January 11, the Lady Raiders traveled to Banneker the next day to play their third game in only five days. The 51-35 win over the Lady Trojans on Saturday, January 12 moved the Lady Raiders to 8-1 in the region and marked the conclusion of an extremely successful week.

On Tuesday afternoon, January 15, the Lady Raiders defeated Galloway in a non-region contest. They resumed region play on Saturday, January 19 with a tough loss at home to Lithia Springs (ranked #2 in the region). Jackson, the #1 team in the region, beat the Lady Raiders on Tuesday, January 22.

The Lady Raiders return home on Friday night, January 25 for another critical region match-up. Grady comes to Sandy Springs looking to avenge their earlier season loss; in December, the Knights lost to the visiting Lady Raiders by only two points, 47-45. Friday's contest tips at 6pm
