Lewis Signs to Play Lacrosse with Howard University

Congratulations to McKenzie Lewis (Class of 2016) for receiving a scholarship to play Women's Lacrosse at Howard University in Washington, D.C.. The Bison recruited Lewis as a midfielder; they play Women's Lacrosse in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Although Lewis missed playing lacrosse her Junior year due to an injury, she played 9th, 10th, and 12th grade on the Raider Varsity team. She served as co-captain her Senior year and earned the "Offensive Player of the Year" award as a Sophomore. Lewis played for the Thunderbird Lacrosse Club for four years and led the Atlanta-Charlotte Club team as co-captain her Senior year.

Her school activities include membership in the Beta Club and the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). During her Junior year, she was one of 30 students nominated by faculty members to serve in the inaugural campus Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy. In addition to organizing and leading group community service projects, Lewis participated in classes designed to strengthen and promote different leadership styles.

Lewis is a life-long member of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. She was a Global Ambassador for People to People as a 9th and 10th grader. As the daughter of a Howard University alumnus, it has been her dream since elementary school to follow in her father's footsteps.
