Girls Cross Country at Aubrae Gunderson Invitational

On Saturday, September 23, the Girls Cross Country team traveled to the International Horse Park in Conyers for the 2017 Aubrae Gunderson Invitational, hosted by Heritage High School.

The Lady Raiders had another strong showing. Freshman Elle Mezzio continued her stellar rookie season placing 5th overall out of a field of 165 runners. She was stride for stride with Grady's Walden Jones at the 600 meter mark and out-kicked her region rival over the last 100 meters. Mezzio is currently ranked 2nd in the region and 14th in the state Class AAAAA. Junior Elizabeth Smith placed 30th with a season best time of 21:58. Junior Celine Al-Noubani and Freshman Murphy Barja rounded out the Varsity finishers. The top performers in the JV race were Freshman Madison Lauk and Sophomore Sharon Lim.

Head Coach Isaac Seals remains upbeat, "Our girls are starting to get in shape, and they're starting to run well. Our positive team spirit has also been a constant this year."

Following an off weekend, the season continues Saturday, October 7 at the Alexander/Asics Invitational in Douglasville.
