Girls XC Wins 1st Place at Angora Invitational

The Girls Cross Country team captured the team Championship at the 2017 Angora Invitational. Hosted by Druid Hills High School at Druid Hills Middle School on Saturday, October 14, the Lady Raiders finished first with 46 points. They topped McIntosh (62) and Decatur (96) to bring home the hardware.

The individual race was a barn burner as defending Region 6-AAAAA champ Haley Rose of Decatur barely held off Lady Raider freshman Elle Mezzio with a late kick. Rose and Mezzio will be the favorites in the October 26 Region meet. Junior Celine Al-Noubani's 4th place finish was key to the Lady Raider victory while the Freshmen trio -- Tori Williams, Murphy Barja, and Madison Lauk -- clinched the title.

Head Coach Isaac Seals was all smiles, "It's great to see our hard work pay off. Mezzio ran a great race and Al-Noubani is really coming into form. We have been dinged up with injuries most of the season, but it looks like we will be ready to challenge at the Region meet."
