Girls XC Mezzio 11th in State
The Girls Cross Country team traveled to Carrollton on Friday, November 3rd for the 2017 Class AAAAA State Championship.

Congratulations to Freshman Elle Mezzio for her outstanding State debut. Mezzio finished 11th in the Girls Class AAAAA competition and posted the 31st fastest time across all classifications in the 2017 State meet.

With Mezzio's 11th place overall finish, she became the third fastest freshman XC girl in school history. The Lady Raiders finished 17th out of 32 teams in Class AAAAA. Junior Celine Al-Noubani and Freshman Tori Williams turned in strong races on the tough, hilly course. The freshman trio of Murphy Barja, Madison Lauk, and Allison Leffler rounded out the scoring for the Lady Raiders.

Head Coach Isaac Seals looks ahead, "This was a very young team and we return our top seven runners next year. If these girls work hard during the summer, attend running camps, and show up in August with a solid mileage base, we have the potential to be very good next season.'

In related news, the USATF invited Freshman Elle Mezzio to compete in the 2017 Cross Country Meet of Champions on November 11 in Fayetteville, Georgia.
