Mezzio Finishes 1st for Girls XC at Nash Farms

On Saturday, October 6, the Girls Cross Country team competed in the Altra Nash Farms XC Festival in Hampton, Georgia.

The Lady Raiders finished in fourth place overall, only five points behind regional rival Grady. In the individual race, Sophomore Elle Mezzio took the gold, just missing a sub-20 time.

In the JV race, Olivia Novotny finished first and the JV team captured first place overall.

Coach Seals had much to be happy about. "We didn't have any upperclassmen in the race due to SAT testing. Before the race, I pulled everyone together and told them to look around and notice that we brought all Freshmen and Sophomores to the race. This group of girls has the potential to be a great team in the future. You look at the JV race and we won that class as a team (JV team pictured below); Olivia Novotny was 1st overall. I always like to see late season PR's, and we had several in Murphy Barja, Olivia Novotny, and Mia Sciacchetano. We also got a good look at Grady today. They will be tough at the region, but we will be ready."

The Lady Raiders next race is Saturday, October 13 at Clinton Farms in Villa Rica
