Girls XC at Clinton Farms

Girls XC at Clinton Farms

The 6th ranked (State Class AAAAA) Girls Cross Country team competed in the Atlanta Classic on Saturday October 13, 2018. With ideal fall weather conditions on the fast Clinton Farms course, both Varsity and JV runners posted season best times.

Sophomore Elle Mezzio continued her stellar season with a 4th place overall finish. Each of the top five runners checked in at under 19 minutes. The Varsity finished 5th out of 21 teams. The JV team showed their depth by finishing second as a team in their division.

Head Coach Isaac Seals was upbeat, but concerned, on the day, "I'm very happy with the way our team competed and our sophomores and freshmen are working especially hard and getting great results. But we won't have success in the postseason unless we get our seniors back on the course and practicing and competing. Our younger girls look to them as pace leaders in practice and in these races, and we can put together some pack running when they are in the lineup. We've got to have them step up and lead if we want to take that Regional Championship."

The Region 6-AAAAA Championship is Thursday, October 25 at Boundary Waters Park in Douglasville. It has been ten years since the Lady Raiders last won a Regional XC Championship.
