The Laurel Park Tennis Center in Marietta hosted the 2014 Boys and Girls Region 7-AAAAA Tennis Tournament on Wednesday, April 16 and Thursday, April 17.
With a top four finish in the 7-AAAAA regional tournament, the Boys tennis team secured a spot in the State playoffs. Showing a balanced attack from top to bottom, the Raiders avenged an early-season loss to Sequoyah with a 3-1 victory on Wednesday morning.
Match Notes:
Sophomores Pascal Acree and Zach Katz clinched the win for the Raiders, while Sophomore Kohl Roberts and Junior Max Goldstein were the first on the board with a solid start. Junior Jacob Marcus looked fantastic in his win and Freshman Gaurav Kunwar was on his way to a victory when the team reached three points for the win. On the bus ride back to school, Kunwar reflected on his suspended match: "I could have beaten that guy."
Freshman Benny Soran led the way in the study hall effort during the match. He was deadlocked in a book an hour before the match started modeling how a student athlete does the job.
