Boys Tennis Wins 1st Round State

On a dazzling spring afternoon, the Raiders traveled to Gainesville on Wednesday, April 22 for the first round of the State Class AAAAA Tournament. They faced the Gainesville Red Elephants on the banks of Lake Lanier and beat them 3-2.

With their victory, the Raiders advance to play in the second round against Alexander High School in Douglasville at 4pm on Monday, April 27.

Singles
#1 Gaurav Kunwar, behind 3-4 in both of his sets, showed what he is made of in a 6-4, 6-4 win. He was poised, and committed to his strokes.

#2 Jacob Marcus was an early winner beating his opponent 6-3, 6-2. Marcus looked confident as the Senior trailblazer of the Raider squad.

#3 Kyle Weil. With contest tied at 2-2 and the post-season on the line, Junior Kyle Weil took the stage in the #3 Singles showdown. Using patience and explosive athleticism Weil shot past his opponent 6-2, 6-1.

Both doubles teams fell in closely contested matches.
