*Varsity Girls at Carrollton Orthopaedic
The Girls Cross Country team ran a split squad on Saturday, September 8 with the Varsity heading out to Carrolton to preview the State course. Sophomore Elle Mezzio continues to round into form as she finished 16th overall on the tough terrain. Senior Celine Al-Noubani, Sophomore Tori Williams, and Sophomore Murphy Barja posted season-best times.

Overall, the team finished 9th in the Championship division. Based on these results, the Lady Raiders made their first appearance of the season in the AAAAA State rankings, landing in the 8th spot. Regional rivals Decatur (5) and Grady (7) are also ranked in the top 10.

Coach Seals was pleased, "Our top girls still have not all competed together, but we continue to improve. Nina Ouellette continues to impress, and that whole sophomore group is starting to hit stride. We still have a lot of work to do, and as evidenced by the State rankings. Once again, we are in the toughest region in the State."

*Junior Varsity Girls at Coach Benson Double Dip
Over at Marist, Freshman Brianna Delarosa led the JV squad with a season-best time. Coach Michelle Finley was upbeat, "the girls ran very hard today on a tough hilly course, in tough conditions - especially later in the morning as the heat and humidity started to rise."
