Boys Cross Country Finishes 9th at County Championship

The Raider Boys cross-country team finished 9th at the Fulton County Championships, held on the tough Milton High School course on Saturday, September 21, 2013.  The older runners, and bigger schools, were a difficult challenge for the young upstarts from Riverwood.  The Raiders had only two runners with prior Varsity experience in the race and on the course, but they refused to quit.

Junior Owen McDaniel was first across for the Raiders – 32nd overall – in 19:30, bettering his time from a year ago by :30.  Following behind McDaniel was Junior Alec Nathan, who crossed in 50th place.  The next four Raiders: Sophomore, Mark Shutley (56), Senior Co-Captain Simeon Ike (58), Junior Adil Rarbaje (60) and Sophomore Bayne Jarvis (65) finished in a tight bunch to round out the scoring.

As the Raiders search for the right combination of runners, they have dropped to 9th in the Region.  With four meets remaining before the Region meet, they still have time to find the magic.
