Senior Owen McDaniel finished second in the individual competition while the Raiders finished second in the team competition at the Westminster Quad Meet. The Wildcats hosted Riverwood, Therrell High School and BEST Academy on Tuesday afternoon, September 30, 2014.
The Raiders went into the meet with several goals. First, the team wanted to prevent Westminster from finishing with a perfect score. Not only did Owen McDaniel (pictured below) take the number two spot across the finish line, he was only a few seconds off his best time from last year. Second, the team wanted to test themselves against last year's State Champions (Class AAA) and place as many runners as possible within the Wildcat's top 10 finishers. In addition to McDaniel, several other Raiders broke into the Wildcat's top 10. Alec Nathan broke 18 minutes to finish right behind their #7; Mark Shutley, Bayne Jarvis, and Willie Herrigel finished right with the Wildcat's #10.
NOTES: Bayne Jarvis had an exceptional day with his highest team finish of the year; he broke 20 minutes for the first time (19:34). Chris Johnson and Shamar Moore also ran well and placed higher within the team than previous meets.
