Boys Cross Country at Last Chance Meet Saturday, October 26

In a tune-up for next week's region meet, the boys cross country team traveled to Carrollton to compete in the Carrollton Last Chance Meet.  It was the second time the Raiders had run on the state championship course this season, serving as both an incentive to place high enough in the region meet to earn a return trip in November and as an opportunity to face some of the best AAAAA runners on the state course.

As he has done all year, Junior Owen McDaniel led the Raiders; he completed the State meet course in 18:17, slotting him 27th overall.  He was followed in order by Junior Alec Nathan and Senior co-captain Simeon Ike.  Senior co-captain Sam Morris and Junior Adil Rarbaje were not far behind.

Coach Griffith, looking toward next year, ran five underclassmen, some of whom have run for the varsity, but several who have not, and they performed well on the big stage.  In order of finish they were: Sophomores Willie Herrigel, Mark Shutley, and Bayne Jarvis, Junior Jake Steel and Freshman Alex Hamer.  As a team, the Raiders were 19th of 25 schools.

Sophomore Neil Ryden led the JV squad, followed by Junior Albert Xiong, Senior Ryan Horn, Sophomore Chandler Arney, Junior Ari Soran and Freshman Benny Soran.

The Raiders travel to Boling Park in Canton on Saturday, November 2, 2013 for the Region 7–AAAAA meet, with the top four teams getting a ticket to the State Meet.
