More PR's at Battle of Atlanta

Both the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams traveled to Hampton for the Saucony Battle of Atlanta race on Saturday, August 29, 2015. The Nash Farm Battlefield course is wide open with rolling hills and several Raiders set personal bests.

Varsity notes:
51 teams and 371 runners. The Raiders finished 32nd out of 51 scoring teams. Jeffrey Edge led the way and continued to improve running a PR time of 18:47. Mark Shutley was close behind in 18:52. The JV team finished 12th out of 22 teams. Bayne Jarvis led the way with a time of 20:54 (the Raiders' 7th fastest on the day). Also finishing in the top 100 were Baxter Shirey, Myles White, and Chris Sprung. Rounding out the JV top 7 were Mitchell Davidson (PR), Chandler Arney (PR), and Juan Gasperin (PR). Other PR's in the JV race were William Madden, Reid Scheinman, Jared Mills, and Edgar Avalos Losza.

13 teams and 203 runners. The 3K was a co-ed race. Jaime Prentice led the way finishing in 21st (top 20 received medals) and Charlie Woodman placed 23rd. The team was 5th out of 13 teams in the coed scoring and 5th out of 8 teams in the boys-only scoring.

Coach Macoy's notes
"The last two weeks have been a tough stretch of training and racing. The last half mile of the race we simply looked tired. Even though we didn't have that great day you always hope for, thanks to mental toughness in the last mile, we didn't have a bad day either. The team simply ran solid with the knowledge that in the long run we got what we needed out of the day. We even managed to have a few PR's (most coming from 1st year runners who are still acclimating to running a 5K). Now, we race a little less and focus more on training. We only have two races in September:  running at Marist on September 12th and at Woodland High School in Cartersville on Sept 22nd. The battle for the seven varsity spots will heat up as we have 11 runners with strong desires to represent the team at region."
