The Raider harriers traveled to Douglas County Saturday morning, August 20 to compete in their first race on the course that will host the 2016 Region 6-AAAAA championships later this fall.
The Raiders definitely seemed to embrace the Boundary Waters Park course as they swept the top spots in the race. Facing regional rival Lithia Springs, as well as competitors from Villa Rica and New Manchester, Senior Jeffrey Edge crossed the line first (17:54) followed by Junior Luis Zambrano (18:09), Sophomore Erick Ramirez (18:55), and Juniors Andrew Ungashick (19:16) and Ace Muhammed (19:22). Rounding out the top ten for the Raiders were Rafa Kennett (20:05), Mick McQuary (20:13), Josh Peljovich (20:14), Pedro Diaz (20:30 in the JV race), and Mitchell Davidson (20:48).
Coach McKeone (pictured below in red) was extremely happy with the team, "I'm ecstatic with our performance today; we put five guys under twenty minutes, showed a lot of depth, and made a statement to the region that we plan on competing for the region championship."
