Raiders 12th at Alexander/Asics Invitational

Both the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams traveled to the Foxhall Sporting Club in Douglasville Saturday morning, October 8 for the 2016 Alexander/Asics Invitational.

For the Raider Harriers, Senior Jeffery Edge continued his storybook season taking home a medal for his 20th place performance (17:33). Junior Luis Zambrano was the second Raider to cross the finish line in 18:07, followed by Sophomore Erick Ramirez (18:12) and Junior Ace Muhammad (18:21). The Raiders finished 12th out of 48 teams in their heat. Regional rival Decatur ran in a different heat and sent notice with some fast times that the Region 6-AAAAA championship will be a donnybrook.

Head Boys Cross Country Coach Zach McKeone welcomes the challenge. "When you've got ten guys capable of breaking 19 minutes every week, you have a strong team that can compete with anyone. Our guys compete; if you want to beat us, you better bring it. I thought Ace and Erick were our standouts today, and I never want to take Jeffrey and Luis for granted because they show up every race. We are exactly where I want us to be heading into the home stretch of the season. And those number six and number seven varsity spots are still up for grabs."
