The Boys Cross Country team premiered several new faces at the annual Battle of Sandy Springs time trials. Holy Innocents' hosted the Raiders and the Weber School on Saturday morning, August 19, 2017.
Senior Andrew Ungashick looked in great form, finishing first overall by out-sprinting Porter Null of the Golden Bears. Pack running may have to be redefined as "Herd running" as the Raiders' next ten runners finished in a stampede within 28 seconds of each other. Freshman Eli Hoppenfield led the pack herd. This year's team shows tremendous depth and promise. Rounding out the top ten were Juniors Davis Herndon and Erick Ramirez, Seniors Justin Coleman and Ace Muhammad, and a trio of Sophomores, Harry Mehre, Jean Deroubaix, and Niklas Ferreira. Finishing strong in the top ten was Senior Luis Zambrano.
Boys Cross Country Head Coach Zach McKeone was thrilled with this first look. "Each and every one of our guys ran awesome. It was a proud day for our team and coaching staff, and we are very excited about this upcoming season."
The next outing for the Raiders is Saturday morning, August 26 at Nash Farm Battlefield in Hampton.
