Boys Cross Country at Coach Benson Double Dip

The Boys Cross Country team competed in the Coach Benson Double Dip at Marist on Saturday, September 9, 2017.

Senior Andrew Ungashick led the team, finishing 29th overall with a time of 17:41. Rounding out the field for the Varsity were Junior Erick Ramirez, Sophomore Harry Mehre, Freshmen Eli Hoppenfield and Cody Kaplan, Sophomore Mick McQuary, and Junior Rafael Kennett.

Despite a solid showing on the difficult hill course at Marist, Head Coach Zach McKeone was not in a good mood. "We have the most talented group of runners that we have had in years, but we are far from being a great team and living up to our potential. Great teams have discipline in the classroom, in their social lives, and in training. They call each other out when someone gets out of line. On race day they support each other, pay attention to details, and the entire focus needs to be on the runners. We have too many distractions right now, and lack a sense of maturity. Coach King and I can only do so much; this team needs to look in the mirror and decide if they want to make the sacrifices, focus better, and be great."

The team returns to competition Saturday, September 16 in Canton at the Warpath Invitational.
