Jenkins is Region 7-AAAAA Boys Basketball Coach of the Year

The Region 7-AAAAA (South) announced their 2016 Boys Basketball All-Region Awards.

For the second year in a row, Head Coach Buck Jenkins is the 2016 Coach of the Year.

Also for the second consecutive year, Senior Kohl Roberts is the Region 7-AAAAA Player of the Year

Other Raiders earning All-Region honors are Juniors Elijah Jenkins (1st Team All-Region) and Charnchai Chantha (Honorable Mention All-Region).

The Varsity Boys Basketball team finished first in Region 7-AAAAA with an undefeated Region record, and were 25-1 overall. The 2016 Region 7-AAAAA Tournament begins for the Raiders on Wednesday, February 10. This year's tournament is at Forsyth Central High School in Cumming.

 

Head Coach Buck Jenkins stepped to the top Varsity Boys Basketball coaching spot at the beginning of the 2010-2011 season. Prior to that, he led the JV Boys Basketball teams for two seasons (2008-10). Jenkins joined the Raider faculty in the Interrelated Resources Department in 2008.

Jenkins graduated from Columbia University in New York with a BA in Political Science. He also played basketball for Columbia where he holds the record as the All Time Leading Scorer. Jenkins was All-Ivy League for three years, the 1993 Player of the Year, All-East Coast in 1993, Honorable Mention All-America in 1993, and is a member of the Columbia Athletics Hall of Fame.

After graduating from Columbia University, Coach Jenkins played professional basketball in Europe for three years. Coach Jenkins returned to Columbia University and served as an assistant men's basketball coach for two years. He was the Head Basketball Coach and Executive Director at Inner Strength, Inc. for seven years.

Coach Jenkins is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He and his wife have two children.
