In the final game of the 2017-2018 regular season on Friday, February 2, the Varsity Boys Basketball team celebrated Senior Night in grand fashion by hammering the visiting Decatur Bulldogs, 71-50.
With all five seniors on the floor to start the contest, the Raiders rushed out on a quick 7-0 run and ended the first quarter up 17-4. From that moment, Head Coach Buck Jenkins was able to play a nice mix of players for the rest of the evening. After building an 11-point halftime margin (29-18), the Raiders extended the lead even further in the third (58-31), and coasted to the final horn.
It was a great night to celebrate the Class of 2018: Jordan Coleman, Rudy Fitzgibbons, Nasir Muhammad, Christian Sutton, and Julian Walker. Each of the graduates finished with points and significant time on the court. Even the bench was cheering as several seniors attempted 3-point shots for their 1st time all season.
For the game, Christian lead all scorers with 17 points, Davis added another 16 with both players lighting up from 3-point range, and Rudy notched 13 points. Nathan Henderson scored 10 points and had a team high 5 rebounds. The Raiders now move into the region tournament at Lithia Springs with a game on Friday evening at 5:30 and hopefully Saturday to claim the region championship. We are hopeful of hosting a 1st round game in the State Tournament to be played the week of 2/12. Stay tuned for those details.
