The Varsity Boys Basketball team traveled across the highway to Holy Innocents' to take on the Golden Bears Tuesday, November 15 in the first game of the season. Many rowdy Raider fans made the trip and enjoyed the spirited neighborhood rivalry. Congratulations to the Raiders for their come from behind 63-62 victory.
The Raiders were behind most of the game, even trailing by double digits several times. Fortunately, they battled back and took their first lead with only 1:38 remaining in the 3rd quarter. The rest of the game was a back-and-forth, hard fought battle with each possession proving critical.
Senior, and Embry-Riddle signee, Elijah Jenkins netted 13 points to go with his 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Newcomer Rudy Fitzgibbons, a Junior, had 15 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Senior Charnchai Chantha collected 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists. Senior 6-foot-7 post Josh Brown finished with 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals.
The Raiders return home to play again on Friday night, November 18 vs Mount Vernon. Tip-off is 7pm.
