The Varsity Boys Basketball team hosted Blessed Trinity the Saturday afternoon following Thanksgiving Day. Even though school was out the entire week prior to the game, a sizable crowd of basketball alums, parents, and fans made their way to the Tournament gym and contributed to the positive atmosphere. In an extremely close contest, the Raiders prevailed in overtime, 67-62. The overtime win brings the Raiders to 4-1 on the season, with Region play beginning November 29th.
Saturday, November 26 Game Notes:
Neither the Raiders nor the Titans could maintain a lead for very long. After multiple lead changes, the Titans were ahead by one point at halftime and held a two point margin at the end of the third quarter. Finally, with only 1:25 remaining in the game, the Raiders tied the game at 58. With only 12 seconds on the clock, Blessed Trinity inbounded the ball and missed a shot which would have given them the win. The Raiders quickly rebounded the missed shot, hustled down the floor, and missed a last second attempt, sending the game into overtime.
In the extra period, the Raiders made seven of eight free throws to put the game away. Once again, Junior Elijah Dudley lead the way in the scoring department with 20 points. Senior Elijah Jenkins added 14; Senior Josh Brown had 11 points; Senior Charnchai Chantha had 10, with four big points coming in the overtime period.
