The Varsity Boys Basketball team traveled to Grady Friday, December 9 for an important region 6-AAAAA contest.
The Raiders earned a hard-fought 59-54 road win; however, the final score does not indicate how close the game was. From the beginning, the Raider shots were not falling and the defense was not stopping the Knights. Grady led by double digits for most of the game and relinquished the lead for the first time with only 2:07 remaining in the final quarter. In a stunning comeback, the Raiders hit critical shots and had several timely defensive stops. Once they grabbed the lead, they finished the scoring by sinking free throws that decided the game in their favor, 59-54.
Junior Elijah Dudley led the scoring with 20 points, contributing 8-9 from the free throw line. Senior Elijah Jenkins added 13 points, including 3-6 from long range. Senior Josh Brown had 10 points, 10 rebounds, and four big blocks.
The Varsity moves to 9-1 on the season. Next on the schedule is a non-region matchup vs. North Atlanta at home, Saturday, December 10. Tip off is 5pm.
