Varsity Boys Basketball Beats Carver

The Varsity Boys Basketball team hosted Carver Tuesday, December 13, 2016 and won the Region contest 71-50.

After an extremely slow start, the Raiders found themselves trailing 8-0 in the first three minutes. Fortunately, they established a rhythm and finished the half leading 25-24. In the third period, the outside shots started falling with regularity and the Raiders played lock-down defense to build a 45-34 lead. The Panthers never caught up and fell to the Raiders 71-50.

The Raiders continued to shoot the ball from long range at a phenomenal 73%, including 65% from the three-point circle. Senior sharp shooter Elijah Jenkins finished the game with 23 points on 8-11 shooting; Jenkins was 7-10 from beyond the arc. Junior Elijah Dudley added 17 points on 7-9 shooting, and Senior Josh Brown added 10 rebounds and 11 points on 4-5 shooting. 

With the win, the Raiders move to 11-1 on the season heading into the exam break.

The team plays next in the Lake City Classic Tournament at Allatoona High School December 28-30, 2016. Tournament play begins Wednesday, December 28 at 10am vs. Kennesaw Mountain. The tournament runs through Friday, December 30 and features several impressive local and out of state teams. Last year, the Raiders finished 3rd in the 2015 Lake City Classic.
