The Varsity Boys Basketball team opened the 2017-18 season with a resounding 66-50 thumping of the visiting Holy Innocents' Golden Bears on Tuesday night, November 14.
After an impressive scrimmage game win vs. Lanier the previous week, the team continued their stellar shooting and late-game burst Tuesday. While the exciting first half featured great shooting by both teams, the Raiders found themselves trailing by two at the half. The Raiders went on a tear during the third and fourth quarters, scoring 46 points to run the Bears out of the gym. A locked-down defense, combined with shots falling from all over the court, clinched the victory over the neighborhood rivals.
For the game, Senior Rudy Fitzgibbons scored 28 points on 7-11 shooting from the field and 9-10 from the free throw stripe. Senior Christian Sutton continued his hot hand pouring in 17 points from all over the court while Junior Davis Herndon and Senior Nasir Muhammad added 6 points each.
During the Thanksgiving break, the Raiders will compete in the North Forsyth Progressive Lighting Tournament
