Varsity Boys Basketball at Progressive Lighting Tournament

The Varsity Boys Basketball team participated in the 2017 Progressive Lighting Raider Classic Tournament hosted by North Forsyth High School. The Raiders faced tough competition in all three games:  Hillgrove, Etowah, and Cherokee High Schools.

The tournament kicked off Saturday morning vs. Hillgrove and the Raiders found themselves in a tie game at the end of regulation. When the overtime buzzer sounded, the Raiders were on the losing end, 65-62.

Dropping into the losers' bracket, the team returned to North Forsyth Monday morning to take on Etowah. The Eagles stomped the Raiders 70-53.

In Tuesday's final game, the Raiders played Cherokee. Trailing 24-21 at the half, the Raiders mounted their standard comeback run and took a tenuous 37-35 lead at the end of the third quarter. That has been the pattern for the season thus far as Coach Jenkins' adjustments have been very effective. With four minutes remaining in the game, the Raiders still held onto a lead, 43-40. The hot shooting Warriors quickly erased the three point margin and edged ahead 47-43 with only two minutes to go. The Raiders could not catch up again and fell 50-47. In the final game, Junior Davis Herndon led with 19 points, hitting 4-8 from three-point range. Senior Christian Sutton added 11 points with 5 rebounds, while Senior Rudy Fitzgibbons scored 8 points to go with his 8 steals.

The Raiders play again during the Thanksgiving break in an away game at Blessed Trinity. Tip off Saturday, November 25 is 5pm. Boys Varsity 2017-18 Schedule
