The Varsity Boys Basketball team extended their win streak to four with a solid 62-49 win at home vs. Region 6-AAAAA opponent Grady on Saturday, January 6, 2018. With the win, the Raiders are 10-6 and stand alone in second place in the region.
The game, a make-up for a snow-postponed December contest, represented the first home victory for the Raiders since the end of November. The Raiders jumped to an early lead that they never relinquished, although it was a close game throughout. In spite of it being the last weekend of the winter break, plenty of sprited students showed up to support the home team. The Raiders appreciate their loud encouragement.
The entire team performed well and every player dressed out saw some action. Senior Rudy Fitzgibbons led all scorers with 14 points, including another perfect 4-4 day at the free throw line. Seniors Nasir Muhammad and Christian Sutton added 9 points each. Sophomore Korbin Lane tallied 8 points, including two big 3-point baskets.
The schedule has the Raiders on the road for three consecutive away games: Tuesday, January 9 at Decatur, Friday, January 12 at Banneker, and Saturday, January 13 at Mt. Vernon.
The next home game is a region contest vs. Jackson* on Tuesday, January 16. Tip off is 7:30pm.
*As of 1/9/18, the Jaguars are first in the region
