The Boys Cross Country team traveled to Cartersville for the 2018 Winged Foot Invitational. Held at Sam Smith Park on Saturday September 22, the conditions were hot and sunny. Since the JV race and other flights took place first, it was well over 80 degrees when the gun went off for the Varsity competition. Even though the course had no shelter or shade at any point, several Raiders had outstanding days.
Senior Erick Ramirez had his best race of the year finishing in 33rd place overall with a time of 18:16. Senior Chase Copeland and Freshman Brayden Dugger both posted season best times in the JV race. Head Coach Zach McKeone was happy, "we are right where we need to be. We had eight runners under 20 minutes on a tough day, and Cody Kaplan held onto his breakfast! The hard work at practice is paying off. The team is getting after it and we will be ready for Region and State."
The Raiders next race is Tuesday afternoon, September 25 at Westminster.
