On Tuesday afternoon September 25, the Boys Cross Country Team competed in the Westminster Home Meet #2. The Westminster Boys are ranked #3 across all state classifications, and they certainly looked the part. Of the first ten runners to cross the line, seven of them were Wildcats. Breaking up the Wildcat party was Raider sophomore Eli Hoppenfeld. He was with the lead pack for the first half of the race before finishing 6th overall. A tightly packed trio of senior Erick Ramirez, sophomore Cody Kaplan, and junior Harry Mehre followed across the finish line in under 19 minutes.
Head Coach Zach McKeone was happy with the results. "I like this meet because it gives us an afternoon race which is good preparation for the Region meet later this season. We finally got to do some pack running, which I always emphasize. We had two or three runners together for most of the race instead of being strung out all over the course. And we won the Public School division as a team today," he pointed out tongue in cheek. [Editor's note: Riverwood was the only Public school competing in the race].
The Raiders next race is Saturday, October 6 at the Nash Farm Battlefield in Hampton
